Weeden 43 Horizontal
My first Weeden! This is an American Weeden Model 43 produced between the mid
1940s to the early 1950s. Originally this would have been electrically heated using a small
rod element like an immersion heater. This was inserted into a hole in the boiler just behind
the chimney housing. This one has had a hole cut in the end plate underneath the sight
glass to take a burner and vent holes drilled in the side plates.
I've found a firm on ebay that sells small cartridge heater elements which i think will fit in the Weeden.
So hopefully it can be returned to being electrically heated as it was originally. The image below shows
the opening in the boiler where the element is inserted. Video here.
Now sporting a nice fresh coat of VHT paint on the firebox.
