SIM Co. Watt Master Project

My SIM Co. Watt Master Project. The aim is to take two Watt Juniors or Watt Seniors and make a Watt Master.

First video here.

This is the first donor engine in my SIM Co. Watt Master Project.

Finally acquired my second donor engine for my SIM Co. Watt Master Project. This one has a damaged boiler and
heater but the cylinder, piston and valve are ok.

The 2 together.

Some progress on the Watt Master build. Still have a piston valve to make but we are nearly there.
The second doner engine had a thicker flywheel so it's been turned down to match the first one.

This is pretty much the finished engine. I still have to sort out the broken whistle valve.

One thing i had forgotten about was the valve timing. These engines use fixed eccentric valve timing. The
eccentric is cast into the flywheel. So if you turn the cylinder over the flywheel will run in the opposite direction!
Also the flywheels are an interference fit on the crankshaft. I drilled and tapped one of the flywheels to take a
grub screw. Then after much studying of the valve movement and head scratching i moved the point on one of
the flywheels where the conrod attaches through 180 degrees. I finally got the cylinders timed correctly, that is
180 degrees out with both flywheels going in the same direction.

Another problem which i was not aware of was that one of the cylinders had had the valve chest removed and
then resoldered in the wrong position blocking the ports. In the end i made a new cylinder and used the piston,
conrod and end caps from the original.
