Robert Fulton Line Horizontal Engine

This is an American Slide Valve Steam Engine.................and that's all i know!
It's complete apart from it obviously once had a sight glass water gauge.
If any one out there knows anything about this engine please let me know.
Closer inspection revealed that the cylinder end cap was missing. If the cylinder
had been made of brass this would have been an easy fix however this one is
aluminium. So i came up with a rather unique if temporary solution, check out the video here.

Mystery solved! Apparently this engine was made by Marvin Industies between the 1940s & 1950s
and was part of their Robert Fulton Line of toy steam engines. The line included at least 3 horizontal
engines and several vertical ones. The construction is rather unusual as the boilers are steel and welded
and with the exception of the whistle and safety valve there doesn't seem to be any brass or copper used
at all. Oh, the chimney is definitely not the right one! New video with new chimney here.

A couple more pictures of the Robert Fulton, now hopefully looking more like it should.

The recent addition of a small lathe to the workshop has enabled the manufacture of a more permanent cylinder end cap.
